Terms of Service

Last updated: June 10, 2026

Crumb (getcrumb.dev) is operated by an individual operator (“we”, “us”), reachable at legal@getcrumb.dev. By creating an account or using a Crumb key you agree to these terms.

1. What Crumb is

Crumb is a bring-your-own-key proxy. A workspace owner connects their own OpenAI API key; Crumb issues temporary ck_ keys with limits (spend caps, token caps, request caps, rate limits, model allowlists, expiry) and forwards requests to OpenAI through the owner's key. Crumb does not sell AI model access and does not resell OpenAI capacity; all upstream usage runs on the workspace owner's own OpenAI account and is billed by OpenAI to that account.

2. Beta status

Crumb is a free private beta. The service is provided as-is, with no uptime or support guarantees. Features may change or be removed, and we may suspend or wind down the beta. We will make reasonable efforts to give notice before anything disruptive.

3. Your account and your keys

4. Workspace owner responsibilities

5. Limits are best-effort guardrails

Spend, token, request, and rate limits are enforced before each request on a best-effort basis. Cost enforcement is based on estimates: budgets are reserved before a request and reconciled with actual provider usage after it. Because of estimation, streaming, and concurrency, brief overruns past a cap can occur. Limits are a guardrail, not a billing guarantee — what OpenAI bills the workspace owner's account is authoritative. Set caps with headroom you can tolerate.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use Crumb to:

7. Enforcement

We may suspend keys, recipients, or entire workspaces — including immediately and without notice — when we believe the service, an upstream provider key, or other users are being abused or put at risk. See the Abuse Policy. We may also cooperate with upstream providers on abuse affecting their platforms.

8. Data

Our Privacy Policy describes what we store. In short: connected provider keys are encrypted, request/response content is not stored, and usage metadata powers limits and dashboards.

9. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost profits, or upstream provider charges resulting from your configuration choices or from keys you distributed. For a free beta service, our total aggregate liability is limited to EUR 100. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Termination

You can stop using Crumb and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Sections 5, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.

11. General

These terms are governed by the law of the operator's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your country of residence grants you mandatory protections. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. We may update these terms; material changes will be announced to account holders, and continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
